Tico Chen (b. Shanghai, China) has devoted her creative journey to exploring the profound connections between different languages and the transformative impact of second languages on individuals' personalities.
Tico earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from Boston University, Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from University of Miami. During her time at the university, Tico learned many skills, from Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Rhinos, Blender, to installation, glass blowing, ceramics. She blends traditional design principles with multi techniques to create visually captivating and innovative pieces. Her fascination lies in the intricate interplay between language and identity, particularly how the acquisition of a second language can shape and redefine one's personality.
Tico's commitment to fostering understanding across linguistic boundaries extends beyond the visual realm. Through her designs, she aims to spark conversations about cultural exchange, identity formation, and the beauty found in the diversity of language.
